80s Glam Metal Returns: Steel Panther
![]() |
| Previously known as Metal Skool, the band decided to change their name in April 2008 to Steel Panther. They made a new debut at The Rockin' Saddle Club in Redlands, California. By May 2008, they signed with Republic Records (owned by Universal Records) with plans for a proper studio album. An updated version of "Death to All but Metal" was their first single, appearing in the iTunes store on 27 January 2009. The album "Feel the Steel", produced by Jay Ruston, wasn't released until later that year on 9 June. Their spoofy antics continued on with a promotional video for the song "Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)," directed by actor Dean Cameron. Their fan base continues to grow as the popularity of attending their shows spreads like wildfire. Celebrities are often found appearing on stage during their concerts, including Criss Angel, Kenny Loggins, Paul Stanley, Kip Winger, Corey Taylor, David Draiman, Hal Sparks, David Bryan, Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach, Tony Romo, Dane Cook, Chris Jericho, Corey Feldman, Evan Seinfeld, Tera Patrick, Sully Erna, Drew Carey, Mike Starr, Chad Kroeger, Ryan Cabrera, Jerry Cantrell, Justin Hawkins, Kelly Clarkson, Ryan Key, Phil Anselmo, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tom Morello, P!nk, Scott Ian, Justin Parks, M Shadows and Avril Lavigne - just to name a few!!! The band won "Best Tribute Band in the Universe" and after a several month run at the House of Blues Sunset Strip, Steel Panther returned to its weekly Monday night shows at the Key Club in Hollywood. |

| Steel Panther announced "IT'S CUMMING! ROCKTOBER 18TH!", on their Facebook and YouTube page, which implied their album would be released on October 18, 2011. The release date was later changed to October 31. No long after, singer Michael Starr wrote on the Steel Panther app that the new album would be called "Balls Out". The debut single "If You Really Really Love Me" from the "Balls Out" album was released on August 22, 2011. In December 2011, Steel Panther announced their second solo UK tour in support of "Balls Out". They also continue to tour the world, and will be playing Download Festival in June 2012. |
