One Man Army Biography

One Man Army was a punk rock band from San Francisco, California. They were discovered by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong while playing in an East Bay club, and their debut album Dead End Stories was the first release on Adeline Records, Armstrong’s label. Originally consisting of Jack Dalrymple (guitar, lead vocals), Brandon Pollack (drums), and James Kotter (bass), the members at the time of separation were Dalrymple, Heiko Schrepel (bass, backup vocals) and Chip Hanna (drums).

Together since 1996, rumors began spreading around 2003 that the band had broken up; One Man Army officially called it quits in 2005.

The band released three albums, Dead End Stories on Adeline Records (1998), Last Word Spoken on Adeline Records (2000), and Rumors and Headlines on BYO Records (2002). The band recorded a split EP with Chicago punk rock band Alkaline Trio in 2004. This was to be their last recorded effort.

The band have a live DVD, “The Show Must Go Off” released by Kung Fu Records in 2003.

Dalrymple went on to form Dead to Me (Fat Wreck Chords) with Western Addiction front man Chicken. Dalrymple co-wrote their debut album Cuban Ballerina as well as an EP African Elephant, but parted ways with Dead to Me after the birth of his first son. It is rumored that he will eventually return to Dead to Me for future projects. He also plays guitar in the Swingin’ Utters and the Re-Volts.
