Misfits Bio

The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles and, with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. This incarnation of the Misfits had a sound much more rooted in heavy metal, and released the albums American Psycho (1997) and Famous Monsters (1999) before dissolving in 2000. Jerry Only then took over lead vocals and recruited former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a Misfits 25th Anniversary tour. This lineup released an album of cover songs entitled Project 1950 and toured for several years. In 2005 Ramone was replaced by Robo, who had played with Black Flag in the early 1980s and had also previously been the Misfits' drummer from 1982 to 1983. This lineup released a single titled "Land of the Dead" in 2009. The Misfits' current lineup of Only, Cadena, and drummer Eric "Goat" Arce plans to release a new album titled The Devil's Rain.

SEVENDUST's 'Time Travelers & Bonfires' Cracks U.S. Top 20
SEVENDUST acoustic album, "Time Travelers & Bonfires", sold around 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart. "Time Travelers & Bonfires" was made available on April 15 via 7Bros. Records, in conjunction with ADA Label Services. On April 1, they hit the road for their first U.S. headlining tour of the year, entitled "An Evening With Sevendust", which kicked off in Athens, Georgia at the Georgia Theatre. It's their first acoustic trek since 2004, when they were touring in support of their second album, "Seasons", and a format their fans have been anxiously awaiting for once again. The Atlanta band ? Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), John Connolly (guitar/vocals) and Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals) ? recorded "Time Travelers & Bonfires" at Architekt Studios in Butler, New Jersey (where they recorded their previous "Black Out The Sun" album). It is a collection of brand new songs, along with re-recorded SEVENDUST classics. Newly re-recorded songs include "Black", "Gone", "Denial", "Karma", "Trust" and "Crucified". Six brand new songs have also been written and recorded for the acoustic album. It's not the first time SEVENDUST has explored their acoustic side. Their critically acclaimed "Southside Double-Wide" live acoustic album was released in 2004. "People liked ['Southside Double-Wide'] so much and have asked for so many years for us to do it again that we had a meeting and said, 'Hmm, why don't we do an acoustic album and see what happens," Witherspoon told Billboard.com. "We went in full guns blazin', man," he added. "It was serious work. It was a serious project. We wanted to come different and bring the different sound and still have that acoustic element there but give it some salt, too, and keep it in that SEVENDUST vein that we're still gonna be able to have a good time and stand up and jump around and not do it in the same vein people are normally used to." "Time Travelers & Bonfires" track listing: 01. Come Down 02. Under It All 03. The Wait 04. Upbeat Sugar 05. One Life 06. Bonfire 07. Gone 08. Denial 09. Trust 10. Crucified 11. Karma 12. Black The song "Bonfire" ? one of the six new tracks written and recorded for "Time Travelers & Bonfires" ? can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below (courtesy of Billboard.com).
